Alexis Guilleux
PNATMAF Territorial Coordinator – Martinique
A specialist in ecology and conservation, with a strong focus on the protection of marine turtles and, more recently, on the conservation of the Lesser Antillean iguana, Alexis quickly put his skills into practice after completing his master’s degree, beginning his career in 2010 with the association Oulanga Na Nyamba in Mayotte.
In 2013, he continued his commitment by joining the Marine Natural Park of Mayotte as a network coordinator. During this two-year assignment, he coordinated marine megafauna conservation actions (stranding and observation networks), developed participatory scientific monitoring protocols, and supervised their implementation with various local partners. In 2015, he took on the role of regional coordinator of the RASTOMA network for marine turtle conservation in Central Africa. For three years, he worked across six countries in the region (Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, São Tomé, Republic of the Congo, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo), deploying the regional strategy, training network members (NGOs and local stakeholders), securing funding, and organizing international events.
In June 2022, Alexis was appointed Territorial Coordinator for the National Action Plans (NAPs) for the recovery of the Lesser Antillean iguana and the conservation of marine turtles in the French Antilles, within the French National Forest Office (ONF) in Martinique. In this role, he is responsible for the technical, administrative, and financial implementation and monitoring of NAP actions in Martinique, working in close coordination with a wide network of local and international stakeholders.
With strong experience in project management and stakeholder facilitation, Alexis is equally comfortable engaging with scientists, policymakers, and the general public. He joined the TOTM salaried team in September 2025 as Martinique Territorial Coordinator for the PNATMAF. Passionate about his work, he combines long-standing expertise with a deep commitment to the conservation of threatened species, enabling him to bring teams together and successfully deliver ambitious projects.
