Initiatives

Collaboration among all TOTM experts led to the development of the “TOTM Initiatives” program, launched in 2021 with the support of the French Ministry of Ecological Transition (MTE). This program offers a wide range of initiatives designed to address priorities identified by experts and carried forward by TOTM across nine themes reflecting current challenges. Their objectives are often complementary, and sometimes interdependent, mirroring the complex issues involved in marine turtle conservation.

These initiatives are intended to complement local Action Plans and international strategies, without replacing them. Through its activities, the program seeks to foster synergies between different territories, building on their respective experiences. It also aims to give a national—and even international—dimension to local initiatives already in place. The program’s content is designed to evolve on a three-year cycle, aligned with the national GTMF conferences, while remaining adaptable to emerging challenges.
