Based in French Polynesia since 1993, Cécile Gaspar is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and holds both an MBA and a PhD in marine ecology. She is a founding member of the World Ocean Network, the Tetiaroa Society, and the French Polynesia Maritime Cluster.

In 2004, she founded the NGO Te mana o te moana (“The Spirit of the Ocean”) and currently serves as Director of Strategy and Conservation Programmes. Her main areas of work include education, conservation, and marine research, with a particular focus on marine turtles, alongside the operation of a veterinary clinic. In parallel, Cécile develops scientific monitoring projects on wildlife and regularly participates in international conferences.

In recognition of her more than 30 years of commitment to conservation, she was awarded the title of Knight of the National Order of Merit in 2011 and Knight of the Legion of Honour in 2022.
