Mireille Quillard has lived many lives before falling in love with marine turtles. After joining 14 different associations, including WWF, she went on an eco-volunteering mission in French Guiana, where she witnessed a leatherback turtle finishing laying her eggs at sunrise—a moment that left a lasting impression on her. This campaign, led by herpetologist Jacques Fretey, a passionate marine turtle expert, was a turning point for Mireille.
Since 1997, she has devoted herself wholeheartedly to marine turtle conservation in Mayotte, a key nesting site where poaching remains a major threat. She is currently preparing for upcoming missions elsewhere to protect turtles during the nesting and hatching seasons.
