Théa Jacob is a Marine Species and Sustainable Fisheries Expert at WWF France, where she works to protect marine biodiversity and promote the sustainability of fisheries. She is a fisheries engineer by training, and her career is driven by a deep passion for the oceans and the conservation of marine life.

Théa focuses primarily on reducing the incidental capture of threatened species, including sea turtles, sharks, cetaceans, and other non-target wildlife affected by fishing activities. She also works to address the issue of abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear—commonly known as “ghost nets”—which pose a significant threat to marine ecosystems, particularly in the Mediterranean Sea.

She collaborates closely with scientific partners, policymakers, and coastal communities to develop practical solutions that reduce the impact of fisheries on vulnerable species and promote more responsible and sustainable fishing practices.
